3 reasons you should have first looks

My Clients ask me if they should do this and I always say "YES!"
and then I give them my 3 reasons for why I say yes.

reason #1. the main reason
more pictures, more footage

I know people usually build up to the biggest point they want to drive home, but I'm starting with it.

By having first looks you are carving out a time where you get more pictures of just you and your fiance.

If you plan to do first looks with parents, that's another time slot dedicated to pictures of just you and your parents. And Grandparents if you want, as one of my Clients did.

If your wedding is being filmed, it's more footage of intimate moments together.
Without the crowds and other people. You're in spaces they are not allowed in.
And to have more footage of these small moments are so special and beautiful.

reason #2.
slow down and savor the moment

When the Bride begins to walk down the aisle, a lot of Groom's cry.
It's beautiful. But then they have to suck it up and move on with the ceremony.
Totally fine to do things this way, but here me out.

Couples who have first looks get to slow down, enjoy the moment and
exchange words between just the two of them.

You're having more time together, just the two of you, without an audience.
It's another way to slow down and make your wedding day last a little longer.

reason #3.
Get ahead of the crowd

What I mean by that is, you can take this opportunity
to take pictures of just you and your soon to be husband/wife,
then later, after the ceremony, you don't have to take as many pictures.

After the ceremony it's the group pictures.
Family, Bridesmaids, Groomsmen, Grandparents, Friends, and somewhere in the mix is the couple.
Usually they go first and then it's on to everyone else.

But if you have first looks, you can take the majority of your photos here, so after the ceremony,
you can focus more on everyone else. And not be rushing through your pictures.

I see it so many times where people let hunger take over the schedule.

They are ready to eat! I understand that. But this is your wedding day, and the sun is setting.
You won't have this moment back.
Savor it. Slow down.
Don't rush away because you're hungry and so is everyone else.
Let people eat without you. Take a walk and get away from the crowd.

If that's during first looks or after the ceremony,
just remember to slow down and take more pictures.
