7 reasons to hire a videographer

and trying to decide if you should hire a videographer?
Well, please let me share with you 7 things you'll want to consider.

When people start thinking of who will document their wedding, they think photography only.
Having their wedding filmed a lot of times is an after thought. Recently, though, couples are starting to make videography more of a priority.
As someone who photographs and films weddings, I have had the privilege to capture 20+ weddings. No, it's not hundreds. But it's still an accomplishment, even if it be a small one.

Here are some reasons my clients have enjoyed having a film of their wedding day.

It was so wonderful for me to read this text from a Client. The fact she mentioned being able to "re-live the special day" and how much it meant to her and her husband, reminded me that what I do matters.
It also showed me that wedding films are a beautiful, dimensional way for couples to relive the best day of their life. It brings out emotions that pictures alone cannot do.

These are things my Clients have said to me. They wanted to make sure certain moments were captured while other Clients didn't know I got "the shot" but I did.
Your wedding day is so important and is full of so many moments. It's easy for you to miss something. That's where I come in. It's my job to try to capture every little moment I possibly can so you can see the moments you couldn’t soak up on the day itself.
It will help you to have a more meaningful experience and memories that you can cherish.

You will get to see the
movement of your wedding day.

A wedding must, must have photographs. Photographs are powerful, comforting and can be displayed in any space. But they don't move. (unless you use a digital picture frame)
Video captures the movements of the day. For example, a videographer will capture the full moment of your first look, your dad walking you down the aisle, or your first dance together as a married couple. Video more accurately captures full moments and emotions, like an embrace between sisters,  a happy tear coming down mom’s face, or laughter shared between family. A wedding day is full of so many moving parts and video captures the full story of your wedding day.

the sounds of your wedding day
(especially your vows)

One of the most cherished benefits of wedding videography is the ability to hear the sounds of your special day—especially your vows. If you write personalized vows, you’ll be able to hear them again and again. In the commotion of the big day, you might not be able to savor every word as they are spoken. But having your ceremony on film ensures you can relive those heartfelt words for years to come. From emotional speeches to laughter and applause, capturing audio is key to experiencing the full depth of your wedding day.

Your wedding day is one of the rare moments in your life where all of your closest family and friends are gathered in one place. It is a day filled with meaningful interactions and memories you will never want to forget. That is something worth capturing. Hiring a wedding videographer ensures you can relive the moments with the people who mean the most to you in a tangible way.

"I recently showed Aria our wedding video and she loved it!!!!"
My Client and friend Sydni then showed me a picture of her daughter
on the couch with a cozy blanket. (Which I will not be sharing here for privacy purposes.)
She then goes on to say:
"It was really special to be able to watch it with her. I can never thank you enough for it!"

I wish I had a video of my parents wedding. We only have a few pictures because the photographer flaked on my parents. They do have some pictures, but only a few.
So as a photographer and videographer, I have tried to take as many pictures of my parents together as I possibly can. And film them together in candid moments in our day to day lives.
It's not just memories or a gift, it's a legacy. It's your family origin story.

It's a special way to see people
who are no longer with you

"The footage and pictures means so much more to us now.."

This is rather a sad reason to hire a videographer, but unfortunately it's true. As heavy as it is, one day, pictures and videos is all we will have to remember them by. The sound of their voice, their laugh. The way their nose would crinkle. The funny dance moves they had. Their sense of humor. How beautiful your mother was in that dress. How handsome your Dad was as he walked you down the aisle. Your Grandmother dancing on the dance floor. Video is such a beautiful way to capture someone's spirit and the essence of who they are.

In this bottom clip, 2 family members have passed away since I filmed this. It was extremely unexpected and the family was devastated. They expressed to me how grateful they were for the footage and pictures I got. Had I known these people were going to pass, I think I would have filmed so much more. There are other Clients that I found out had friends or loved ones that passed away. And my heart goes out to them. These are not just older people, but young people as well.

So while reason #7 is heavy, it is completely true. And something to think about.
And it's not to get you to spend more money on me, but to invest in someone to film your wedding.
Even if it's a friend who does it for free.
Find someone to capture your day. You won't regret it.

 To me and most of my Clients, it's essential. But ultimately, you know what you have a budget for and what is most important to you. Please consider the reasons above and talk it over with your partner. Ask them what is important to them and how they feel about the things mentioned above. This is a decision that should be made by a couple, not an individual.
