Why I recommend having your wedding at
Chula Vista camp & conference center

I only took a few pictures at this venue. My main role was to film their wedding. So if you'd like to see the rooms, the size of the reception area, where the ceremony was held,
and what their wedding film looked like, you can watch it here.

Price: I don't know. You would have to call and find out.

Size of venue: VERY spacious. I definitely got my exercise walking back and forth from the reception hall, to the rooms. Not to mention the stares I walked up. So if you have a golf cart, or can borrow one from a friend or family member, I HIGHLY recommend it.

Pros:
The property has it all!
A reception hall, a covered outdoor area for the ceremony, places to take pictures at, and rooms people can get ready in.
There was a lot of rooms on the property, (it's a camp) so there was places for both the Groom and his party and the Bride and her party to get ready
It was quiet. Peaceful. Has a water feature. And you can easily drive to any building on the property. It seemed easy for vehicles to drop off the food at the reception hall. Or someone take the Bride back to her room to change.
Because it has lots of space, it was SUPER easy for the photographers and I (the videographer) to get the shots we needed for our Clients. No cramped places, which was wonderful to work with.
It is close to a large city. Located just outside the Birmingham area.
It is close to an interstate and is only a few minutes from small town amenities.
You've also got options for where you want to have your ceremony and reception at.
It can all be outside, or all inside. You could have the reception outside, ceremony inside, or vice verses like my Clients did. Where the ceremony and pictures were outside, and the reception was inside.

Cons:
Not disabled friendly:
Because of all the stairs and rough terrain, I would think this location would be difficult for someone in a wheelchair to get around. The reception hall does have a wheelchair ramp, and the outdoor covered area does have a sloped sidewalk instead of steps. Having said that, it could still be challenging for someone using a cane or wheelchair.

Exposed to the elements.
It rained the day of the wedding. The wind was blowing and it was very cold. My hands began to freeze and it was difficult for me to bend them and push the shutter button. If the wind blew hard enough, sometimes you could feel bits of rain hitting your arm or face. If adverse weather is predicted, you can move the wedding to inside the reception hall.

Rustic/dated Decor:
This is not a con to everyone, but for some it can be a turnoff. Remember, this is a "camp". This is not created as a wedding venue. Even though it is rustic and/or dated, my Clients' families did a great job decorating it in an elegant way. So it is possible to spiff it up, but you will have to use some imagination.

Bumpy terrain:
Every building is accessible, but when I was there it was a bumpy terrain. It may be different now. Roads might be paved. But when I was there in 2017, it was mostly gravel. So it wasn't the smoothest to ride on or walk on. But everywhere is accessible.

Not a lot of privacy for the ceremony:
It is a private camp ground, but when the Bride was about to be revealed to her guests, there wasn't any privacy because of the open building with no walls. Some of the groomsmen tried to hide her with their umbrellas, but in the end, it wasn't effective. We pretty much gave up and everyone saw her as she walked up the sidewalk.
Now, because of the long sidewalk and long aisle, it did give a nice, long moment for people to see the Bride, the Groom to see the Bride and us photographers/videographers to get a lot of shots of her and the Groom's reaction. So this can be a con, but for us it was a pro. In the end, it worked out great.

In conclusion:

If you're located around the Birmingham area and are looking for a spacious venue to have your wedding, if you plan on having a lot of guests, and if you are wanting to be surrounded by nature, this could be the place for you.
